What's next at the Foundation?
'Staches for Cash—Nov. 1, -Dec. 2, 2011
In support of Men's Health, the Foundation has launched Staches for Cash that will last throughout the month of November. Similar to the national event "Movemeber," 32 Union Hospital Health Group male employees will be growing their mustaches in support of the Oncology and Men's Health Fund. Throughout the month, the community is encouraged to "like" your favorite mustache on to our Facebook page Staches for Ca$h. Every "like" is equivalent to $1. In addition, you can cast your vote by purchasing tickets 1 for $1 or 7 for $5 on the lower level in the atrium on Nov. 11, Nov. 18 and Dec. 2. Voting automatically enters you to win a 40" LCD TV sponsored by Frontier Communications. 'Staches for Cash will conclude with a chili lunch, sponsored by Wendy's, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the 3rd floor in the canteen. The lunch is $5 and is open to the community!
Friends of Union Hospital Annual Campaign—Beginning Nov. 15, 2011
The Foundation will launch its Annual Campaign on Nov. 15, 2011. After researching the priority needs of the hospital, the campaign will focus on support in Labor and Delivery and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit areas. Renovations will nearly triple the spaces allocated for Maternity Services, create a more holistic and soothing environment and provide upgraded technology for efficient delivery and quality of care. Be on the lookout for our annual mailing and take advantage of this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the women and children who are helped by these areas. Naming rights for specific labor and delivery rooms are available on a first come first serve basis. All donors for this year's Annual Campaign will be recognized in a special area of the main lobby of Union West, as well as the Foundation's website.

A Fantastic Fall at Union Hospital Foundation...
What an exhilarating fall this has been for the Foundation! September and October, two of our busiest months of the year, have been especially exciting as we have hosted many events to engage the community in the great giving opportunities of Union Hospital and Union Hospital Foundation. We are incredibly fortunate to have the community support of our endeavors and look forward for the new year as we continue to support advances in medical care that benefit the patients served by Union Hospital and initiatives that promote health and wellness in the Wabash Valley.
Weinbaum and Baur Awards Reception—Oct. 12, 2011
This year, the Foundation named Dr. J. Lewis Stoelting and Susan Cross as the 2011 recipients of the Weinbaum and Baur Awards. Stoelting, now retired, worked with Union Hospital since the 1940's and was nominated for the Weinbaum award by his peers for being up-to-date in the medical field and was always interested in improving the medical care of the community—particularly concerning women's health. Cross, a volunteer since 1980's, has served Union Hospital in various capacities including volunteering in Nutritional Services, Cancer Registry, Chaplain's Office and as a Surgery Hostess which she currently works. Cross also served as President of the Service League when its members pledged a $250,000 gift to the Foundation. The Foundation is pleased to have Dr. Stoelting and Susan Cross as the 2011 Weinbaum and Baur recipients.
Children's Classic Run—Sept. 24, 2011
What a perfect morning our annual Children's Classic Run turned out to be! Grade school students from the Wabash Valley came together to participate in the one mile children's race which took place around Indiana State University's Wolf Field. The race, aimed to encourage youth philanthropy, raised over $19,000 for the Pediatric Therapy Assistance Fund.
Volleyball for the Small—Sept. 22, 2011
As students proclaimed "we love babies" from the stands, we proudly hosted our third annual Volleyball for the Small Terre Haute North vs. South game where 79 parents and babies were in attendance to celebrate the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit graduates from the Union Hospital NICU. This year, with the help of the Vigo County School Corporation, our sponsors, families, parents, students and, of course, the women's volleyball teams, we were able to raise over $14,000 to support the NICU Family Assistance Fund.
Sporting Clay Classic—Sept. 16, 2011
Twenty-three teams welcomed a beautiful fall day to support Union Hospital Foundation and Union Hospital Clinton Foundation's second annual Sporting Clay Classic on September 16th. This year, thanks to a record turnout, we hosted morning and afternoon shoots that were brought together by a delicious lunch sponsored by Rick's Smokehouse BBQ. The Foundations are exuberant to announce that we have received over $18,000 profit from the event to support the priority needs of the hospitals. We are thankful to the individuals and businesses that designated most of their Friday to help the Foundation in our fundraising endeavors. Throughout the day, nearly 160 individuals served the Foundation through participation in the shoot or as a volunteer. The Foundation extends our most heartfelt thanks to all those who spent such a wonderful day with us.
Eagle Rider's Motorcycle Ride for Mammogram Assist.—Sept. 3, 2011
This past Labor Day, the Eagle Riders of Terre Haute and The International Brothers of Electrical Workers Union #725 collaboratively gifted $5,600 to the Clara Fairbanks Center for Women to be designated to the Mammogram Assistance Fund. The 170 mile ride throughout the Wabash Valley allowed riders from all over to enjoy a beautiful weekend ride while raising awareness and funds for women's health. The Foundation thanks all who participated!
